Background:
- Tai chi is an ancient Chinese exercise that combines relaxed, fluid movement with a calm alert mental state. It looks like an effortless, slow motion dance. Developed more than 7000 years ago by Chinese martial artists, it is ideal for increasing stamina, flexibility, postural control, coordination, and increasing leg and core strength. As a non-impact exercise it strengthens the body with minimal stress to the joints. Tai Chi has also been shown to improve memory, attention, and stress levels.
- Tai Chi Fundamentals- Adapted Program was developed to make Yang Style Tai Chi more accessible for older adults and for those with pain and physical limitations. Practiced today by people of all ages and physical conditions, it provides a clear system for mastering tai chi basics and a gateway to all traditional tai chi.
